For returning participants and newbies alike, parking at PDF may pose some issues, depending on weather and site conditions. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers. If you need more information when you arrive at the site, please contact your friendly parking volunteer or if they're not available, ask at the gate.
Q: Is there a fee to park or do we need a permit?
A: PDF has a nice big free parking lot run by volunteers just like you (hint hint). When you arrive at PDF you will be directed where to go and where to park. Please be careful to park only in designated parking spots and avoid parking in entrances, roadways, paths or other people's camps.
Q: Are we able to drive up to our site and unpack our stuff or do we have to carry it in?
A: In ideal weather and site conditions, you will be given a 30 minute pass to drive on site, drop off your stuff and return to the parking lot. You can usually get pretty close, but will most likely have to do a little hauling depending on where you camp..
You will need to give up your license to get the parking pass, but it will be returned to you when you return the pass.
NOTE: Here is the BUT.. If weather conditions are not ideal and we have a Mud burn, you may be required to hike your stuff in. Our hosts, the Vets sometimes have a tractor with a big Hay Ride like bed on the back and may help you out, but it's a good idea to pack prepared for the possibility of carrying everything in. Keep your eye on this website as well as twitter for site conditions. We will post them around noon on the first day of the event.
Q: Can we return to our cars during the event?
A: Yes, the parking lot is actually OUTSIDE of the event, so you will need to be sure you are wearing your wrist band in order to get back into the event. But you can come and go as you please.
Q: Can we leave our cars on site?
A: No, unless you apply for and are awarded an onsite parking pass or your car was approved as part of your theme camp, you cannot park on site. You will be informed if you have a parking pass well in advance of the event. If you are not sure, it probably means you didn't get one. Also, all parking passes are subject to change if weather removes the ability to park on site.
Q: When can we load our stuff to leave?
A: Driving on site follows the same hours as ticketing. Please see our posted ticketing hours. The only exception to this rule is Sunday evening after the burn
