my friend Filth is finally divorced and we want to throw a parade/ceremony/shindig. We were thinking about 8 p.m. Saturday but there's an actual wedding listed for then & we don't want to disrupt! Maybe earlier in the day then... any suggestions? (It's my first PdF!)

We plan to put the condemned man in shackles and lead him around the Playa, playing New Orleans funeral jazz and blowing noisemakers. Then we'll have a sexy priestess read the divorce decree as Filth's shackles are ceremonially smashed. Then lots of champagne corks will be popped, and confetti tossed (are we allowed to have confetti? Maybe just bubble-blowing.)

* champagne and party favors for all! *

I would say the confetti might be a bad idea unless someone plans on picking up every single piece off the ground which i'm sure no one wants to do, we leave no trace on the Playa. Bubbles sound like a much better idea and honestly who doesn't love bubbles. Congrats on yours buddy's new found freedom!

Thanks! Yeah, definitely we'll skip the confetti. I'm thinking streamers we can manage to clean up, but I'll still focus more on the bubbles and the BUBBLY...

That sounds like a great idea!

As for timing, I can't say how the wedding would feel. Maybe try to contact them at PDF. Neat way to meet people.

I think we'll try and do the divorce procession closer to 5:30 or 6. Then champagne all around!

The divorce party exceeded all expectations - thank you, fabulous PDF community! One amazing bit of serendipity was that a lovely divorcee at a nearby camp had actually brought her old wedding gown, and she wore it for the party. I think her name was Patricia but I didn't get any further details; I kept assuming we'd see her again. Would love to give her a big post-event shout out and cyberhug (and her white tulle fabric if she wants it for anything)!

*waves politely*

The pleasure was mine. I feel very privileged for the opportunity to be a part of the first few paragraphs of the latest chapter of your friends life. :D

And if its possible, I would love the tulle from the dress, since its all that remains from it. I used the rest for kindling at the burn. Many thanks to honey bear and que random for the tshirt they loaned to me and my sisters for our post dress burn dance. :D
