Move Ranger HeadQuarters(RHQ)and Participation Station(PS) to 4E.
(Approved by Ranger Coordination Team)
Reasons to Move:
"Center Camp" is no longer in the center- our event has grown in number and size- several acres- and "Center Camp" is now in the bottom quarter.
Having Center Camp more Central makes it more accessible to the back field- where a majority of attendees camp.
Our current location is too loud!
Rangers and PS vols. have trouble hearing and being heard on the radios when at Center Camp, which is essential to the function of our departments.
Friday night the Stage sound level was measured at 82dB at 50’ (which hadn’t gotten any louder from the daytime performances, and is well over daytime acceptable levels.) So asking someone which shift they’d like to fill was equivalent to trying to have a conversation on a subway platform with a train passing.
In addition to the location being too loud to perform the basic functions of Center Camp, it also prevents us from being more involved by having volunteer trainings, and burner/PDF education events/performances.
Rangers would like to reorient the current Center Camp structure to have PS/RHQ be side by side in order to facilitate Higher visibility of Rangers- which is essential to the function of their dept. Our current location can not accommodate this rotation. Reasons 4E is Ideal
It is Centrally Located
4E is accessible to the front and back fields and has a very high visibility level being on the corner of two major roads, and near the porta potties and barn showers.
4E being next to the barn is very easy to locate!
If someone needs a Ranger, the Central location would make it easier for someone to come to Ranger HQ to call for a Ranger if they can’t see one. It is Quiet
4E has the neighbor’s field to the back and side and the barn on the other side, so despite being across from sound camps, it is still quiet.
Unlike the stage, the sound camps don’t have music pumping out all day long. It Accommodates
4E is big enough to accommodate the Center Camp structure at any angle, so we could reorient the structure to have RHQ next to PS, giving it increased visibility and accessibility!
4E is close enough to pull power from the barn without having to invest in pricey 75 ft all weather extension cords and a 30 amp breaker control, with the possibility of them getting damaged/unplugged when run over by a golf cart/car which would likely happen if we were, for example, at 5E.
4E has the depth in space to host events, such as Ranger Training, Burner 101: A Guide to PDF, 10 Principles Dramatic Storytelling and Dept Info sessions.[/color]Our event has grown and we need to adjust to meet the needs of all participants.
4E is the ideal adjustment for Center Camp because it is centrally located, allowing us to better serve the whole community, while being more interactive and engaging!
