Thinking about budgeting for new radios/base station,what radios are recommended/compatible and where is the best place one acquire them?

From conversations that happened on the coord list a couple of years ago, this is the most up to date information I have. The information came from Lizard (who does a lot with our radios), but you still may want to check with him to be sure these are still the best radios to pursue. PM me if you need his contact info. I have no idea where the best place to get them are, but you can get them pretty easily (e.g., on Amazon).

Radio:
Puxing PX-777, and specifically the VHF 136-174 MHz type (as opposed to an exclusively UHF model or other).
