The existing lost & found policy needs to be firmed up and published. I propose the following:
 Items should be turned in to Participation Station. Important/valuable items (such as wallets/IDs/phones) will be placed in a lock-box.
 Items not claimed by the end of the Burn will be inventoried and published online.
 For valuable items, a discretionary budget will be available to ship these items back to their owners. For all other items (clothing, etc.), the items will be saved and brought to the following event.
 If items are not claimed within 2 months of being posted online, they will be donated to charity. (Costumes may go to Scratch.)

Discussion from PC meeting:

 Sandblaster: Cellphones really should be destroyed, not donated.
 Barbara: I’m not opposed to donating to charity, but we need to have a better system in place before we do that. We need a better way to share that information with participants.
 Emily: What I’ve seen work well is a google-spreadsheet where you can enter the info on what’s been lost, paired with a photoalbum (like flickr) with images of the found items.
 Barbara: We need to work on making this clear, as otherwise people will be butthurt.
 Devin: People won’t necessarily self-educate
 Emily: Yes, we do need to make it more visible through the WWW.
 Devin: On the topic of cellphone conversion, the reputable organizations use the software purging as part of their practice. We would be smart to work through them rather then some fly-by-night group.

FYI, going forward, this proposal will likely be voted on without the small discretionary budget for shipping. All attendees will be responsible for their own shipping costs.

So long as attendees are responsible for their own shipping costs, I'm good with it. :)

There was also an answer from Emily about this that indicated we may go forward: https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos ... e=544DE534

I'm good with both answers; just re-posting hers here so everyone is on the same page.
